Taste Notes

This was perhaps the best stout I've ever made. Unfortunately, it can't be made exactly again because Edme changed the yeast strain after I made this one. Good memories tho'.

Notes

Entered in Montgomery County Fair...finished middle of the pack.

Thanks for posting this simple recipe for your oatmeal stout. It makes a tasty addition to the kegerator! I have a 10 gallon pot so I did a full boil starting with just over 6 gallons down to just a hair over 5.

Question. This is an oatmeal stout yet the instructions say to boil the oats for 0 minutes. Should this be 60?

by justin3777

thinking about trying this. first time making a stout good point about the oats do you really add them at flame out

by corbmonster

I'm pretty sure the oats should be steeped with the steeping grains for about 30 minutes at 150 degrees.
