Award Winning Recipe
by BeerSmithNorthern brewer hops is my choice for steam beer (who does not like one?) and you have to respect a recipe that made it to the NHC final round. I've bookmarked this one to brew soon!

Brewing 10 gallons of this tomorrow!
1-27-13 Transferring to secondary or kegging. Wish I could lager it but it's too cold in the garage where my keezer sleeps. Just drink it this time. Lager it next time.
Turned out great anyway!!
My obsession
by timlaelAlmost a year ago I started working on this recipe and have slowly brought it to where it is today. Over the progression of the recipe it has won several medals in some pretty large competitions including the recent advancement to the 2012 NHC final round.
As it currently stands, this beer is slightly malt forward, yet it represents the category well. In v1.3, I have reduced mash temp and shifted the 5 min hop addition to a strcitly whirlpool addition. My hope is to dry the beer out a bit and bring the malt and hops into perfect unison.
Fermentation and proper starter size is key with this beer. I use a 2l starter (1.040 light pils DME wort) and ferment @ 61°F.
Also, WLP 810 is preferred (or I have more experience with it), but 2112 has proven acceptable.
