Have you tasted your Myrcenary recipe yet? Very curious to see how it turned out.

No, I only just had the chance to brew it this weekend. It's fermenting away right now. I'll post tasting notes as soon as they are available.

It turned out very well. I had been a few months since I had the real thing, but it tasted pretty similar to what I remember. It had a nice, thick mouth feel. Not overly bitter, but definitely great hop aroma. It was a little overly sweet though.

You know rain water that collects in ponds?? That's your best beer that is, that's the best beer you'll ever make

I just shared my Citra IPA recipe...though it will probably end up being call Rockhopper IPA in the end.

You need to live closer so we can buy stuff together and share it. My next 5 recipes have about 9 oz. of Citra. I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a pound of pellets at $25 or leaf at $2 oer oz.

Just getting back into brewing after a 15 year hiatus! MY how much more information is available! I remember alt.beer.homebrewing being about my only source outside of my local home brew store (FH Steinbarts in Portlandia).

swartzad, I really want to make this recipe you posted. Any other recommendations or tips? Was the 2lbs of PB2 enough and how many containers is 2lbs? Thanks a lot!

swartzad
- 15 February 2014 - 10:45 pm
I would say the 2lbs was just right (for me anyways). I'm actually having one right now. Starts out with some bitterness and you get a lot of PB in the finish. I did my first batch with 1 lb, and that definitely wasn't enough. 2lbs should be 2 of the vacuum sealed bags worth.
Also, I would increase your boil by at least a gallon. The PB2 will settle and leave a gallons worth of trub on top of what you'd usually have.
Maybe play with the yeast? I liked the London Ale, but it did give a sweeter finish.
Let me know what you come up with. This has been a huge hit, but I'm always open for suggestions. Happy Brewing!

Has anyone tried to come up with a Seef Bier recipe like Johan Van Dyck's from Antwerp? I ran across this interesting article and would dearly love to try it;

I am thinking about brewing your bigfoot barley wine. How long did this beer age?

timlael
- 31 January 2014 - 11:59 am
That one aged in a Jack Daniels barrel for 10 months before being kegged/bottled. It turned out fantastic!

I was looking for an ABT 12 clone and came across yours and was wondering how it came out? would you do anything different? I'm looking to do a 10gal batch.

This turned out to be a phenomenal beer. We ended up doing this as a club brew and combined all our batches into a whiskey barrel. I did keep some behind to compare. Both versions came out great.

Zeero how did your allgrain version turn out? what did you use to sub the LightDME and Extra light DME?

Zeerocool
- 23 January 2014 - 10:01 pm
I haven't had a chance to make it yet. I'm waiting for a keg to open up. If you would still like to try it all grain, replace the extracts with 10 lbs Pale U.S 2 row @ 75% effeciency

Just looking at your Duvel clone, where do you add the sugar? to the Kettle i assume? How many times have you made this one?

gruversm
- 23 January 2014 - 11:34 am
I add the sugar to the fermenter after fermentation begins. I boil the sugar first.
