Notes
Orignally Designed to have pacifica hops, had to sub for liberty.
PH was higher than estimated in the ez water calculator excel sheet.
Changes:
Gant worked great for the rims tube circulation. It added 1 gallon of liquid. I added 1 gallon to my original strike volume.
Used rice hulls to improve circulation.
Notes about the water profile:
I was looking for a water profile that would accentuate the malt character. to compensate I used more hops than are needed to compensate. Im looking for a IBU of 70 where as it has estimated an IBU of 80. The water profile that I used doesn't extract hop bitterness well.
Ive been doing more research since im not making beer that is fiting for the style that I like. That said I have been focusing on the PH and Water Profile!
The ABV is lower than I planned. My Mash efficientcy wasn't Properly entered for this recipe.
Final ABV 6.5%
Ok the beer was slightly over carbonated. The hop aroma fell out quickly and was gone after a few weeks. It was weak to start. It seems that I need to increase my hops by at least 25% and focus on the aroma and flovor segments of the boil. Im not sure that dry hopping at this point seemed pointless since the aroma was lacking. Bottomline this beer didn't turn out they way i thought i was designing it.11/9/2015
