Notes

Blackberry Irish Red. 3/14/2015 Brew Day. Super Pi Day! Overnight chill. Made a yeast starter. Will pitch tomorrow. Used 80L crystal for 5 gal batch, so color will be too dark for Irish Red. Extra hoppy aroma with 1 oz Challenger at end of boil instead of original recipe's 0.5 oz. because I don't want to bother saving 0.5 oz. Also, hops used for 5 gal recipe in 4 gal batch, so should be extra hoppy, but blackberries may still overshadow the hops. 3/15/15 Pitched in primary. Wort, yeast starter, water, blackberries. OG 1.056 About 4.5 gal. 3.6 lbs blackberries. Next time should freeze, purée, and dump berries in hot wort. Was a big pain putting berries in carboy. Massive kräusen in just 12 hours. Blew its top. What a mess. 3/22 Transferred to secondary. 4/1 FG 1.018 5.0% ABV
