Notes

Worst brew session ever… Broke a carboy and had to go to American Brewmaster to buy a new one during my mash. Caused me to mash for 75 minutes instead of 60. Then I introduced 15.25 gallons of wort into the boil kettle instead of the directed amount. I siphoned off wort down to 14.25 gals. Boiled for 100 minutes. Stuck to the hop add on schedule, adding the first group of hops at 60 minutes. Reading was weird. At 120 degrees the wort read at 1.022. At 180 degrees (pre-boil) I added 24 oz of honey instead of 16 oz of honey after the boil. After the boil finished and the wort cooled to 70 degrees the reading was 1.055. Maybe I am not reading it correctly??? Last problem was I had 2 packs of dry yeast for this brew. I rehydrated both packs together in the same bowl instead of separately then had to eyeball the split into the two carboys. Fingers crossed…
