Ingredients
Amount Name Type #
8.00 oz Rice Hulls (0.0 SRM) Adjunct 1
5 lbs Pilsner (2 Row) Ger (2.0 SRM) Grain 2
5 lbs Wheat Malt, Ger (2.0 SRM) Grain 3
0.50 oz Hallertauer [4.8%] - Boil 45 min Hops 4
0.50 oz Hallertauer [4.8%] - Boil 20 min Hops 5
1.0 pkgs Bavarian Wheat (Wyeast Labs #3638) Yeast 6
1.0 pkgs Safbrew Wheat (DCL/Fermentis #WB-06) Yeast 7
4.00 Blood Orange (Primary 0 min) Misc 8

Taste Notes

Not quite on-style for a Hefe due to the extra IBUs and a reddish tinge from the oranges. but it's a real crowd-pleaser so who cares.

Notes

Zest half the oranges, juice them all. Mix zest with juice and heat to 160F or so, don't boil. Add to primary with wort. Ferment near the low end of the yeast range to get some yeast character without overwhelming the blood oranges.
