Notes
28 litres into boiler at 1040. struggled to get to gravity so 200g DME added and 300 g sugar syrup. no chill about 22 litres. need to adjust efficiency and boiloff for this technique. removed inventory
Roasty, clean porter - bottles marked P
by stevecrawshawThis was my first "no - chill" brew. The hot wort is drained from the boiler and straight into a jerry can where it is cooled naturally. The recipe was guided by the porter style in "designing great beers" (daniels). It has a good roasty character from the amber malt and is deep dark brown in colour. Fairly bitter and with low to moderate hop aroma it is a good example of a robust porter.
