Notes
Brew # 11-1
Brewed:
11/28/14
Boil interrupted when I inserted the wort chiller with the water running by mistake. Boil suspended and boil extend the same amt.
OG: 1.060
Split yeast batch: one fermented with Belgian Ale 1214 in water bath @ 75°F and other with SO5 @ basement temp of 66°F. Made a yeast starter for the belgian 1214 yeast - activity earlier and more vigorous than the so5 yeast without a starter.
12/6/14
Transfered Belgian 1214 batch to secondary. Gravity 1.005. Tastes a bit bitter in the finish. Hope the boil problem didn't make this more bitter than it should be. VERY dry. Almost boozy taste to it. Good aeromatic smell of fruitiness.
12/20/14
Transferred belgian golden to keg.
FG: 1.005
Crystal clear. Great aeroma and taste. Can't wait for it to age and carb.
12/21/14
Transferred SO5 batch to keg. FG: 1.005.
Taste is crisp but not a lot of flavor otherwise.
Boiled 2 cups water with 4tsp ground allspice, 2 tsp ground ginger, 4-5 zested oranges, and 4 cinnamon sticks for 15mins. Strained and added to keg.
Initial taste is complex mix of orange and other spices you can't quite pick out. Not bad. We will see how it ages.
Both 7.2% ABV

Belgian golden - Great fruit/banana aroma and good spice/Clove finish. Yummy!
Spiced ale - smoothed out nicely as it aged. This Recipe Has Not Been Rated
