Taste Notes

this is an excellent recipe. Judeges liked it but thought it could use more rye to offset the strong yeast characters. Took Gold on table for 2024 Oconners Brew Off.

Notes

This is recipe from "Brewing Classic Styles"; On brew day, I did not put all the rice hulls in and it did slow down the sparge; Brewed on same day as Mi Beer Cup awards so I paused during mash. Mash was about 2.5 hours. For boil with steam condensor, I let it get to about 209 at 95+ power and then dropped to 79% power and started boil timer. Boil at 211 was pretty strong so dropped down to 73%. Ended up high apv with 6.6%
