Taste Notes

Indiana Brewers Cup: 35 Generally good comments. Noted a complex malt bill with light floral herbal notes. Some light fusel. Some light oxidation. More whiskey then wood they noted. Other judge notes some warming sensations as well as some light vanilla and honey notes. Echoed the same note from the previosu judge that it had too much whsikey (alcohol) and note enough wood. Western Idaho Fair 36.8 (See Spider Graph) Both Micheal and Nicole echoed the idea that it was lacking wood characteristics. Though it was clearly less of a problem for them. Happy Holidays: 32 Hard to read the first judge but it seems his biggest critique was that the dark malt overshadowed the wheat malt. Barrel character comes through Other judge noted some hop aroma but no whiskey notes. Echoed what most others did about lack of barrel character added that the alcohol was too high and interfered with the body. He noted no char no, no oak, no whiskey.

Notes

159 mash in 4.7 ph 156 15 min 4.8 154 30 min Little snafu. Left the areotor going for 3 hours and made a huge foamy mess. Loss about 1qt. Hoping no infection. April 6th Was bad about recording gravities (get better you cad). Assuming a final gravity of 1.030 Pitching a pack of Windsor yeast at bottling just to help things along.
