Taste Notes

taste was veery good. Nice subtle rasp flavor, great color and head retention. Scored 38/39 in oconners comp. Not sure why it didnt move on to mini-BOS at least. 1- Judges comments - light grainy character raspberry aroma is present. Bready and light fruit flavor present. Dry finish. Good carbination 2- Judge comments - grainy wheat with cherry scent. Very low hop scent. Golden red (Raspberry). tart Cherry taste with clean finish. Reminds you of a Sam Adams cherry wheat but less bready and more tart delicious. Good carbination nice body easy drinking. I would drink this any day. Great wheat with nice flavor.

Notes

Brewed- 8/25/21. I was working alone and forgot to start timer for mash. Made an estimate. Should be pretty close. System had a hard time maintaining consistent temp. The rice hulls were not enough and it didnt drain well. I had to pull top screen and stir a lot to keep water flowing. Dont know why temp would reach up into 160s at times. Have to watch if the temp sensor is going bad. I had to stir and turn on pump, it would pull enough water to cover grains and then filter down. But it was sticking enough that I couldnt leave top screen on and run pump alone. Good brew. We did about 72% eff. Chilled to about 73 F and put into chilling chamber to bring to temp. Tap water is to warm to get it much cooler than that. I pitched the yeast next day 8/26 at 67 F. It took off very quickly. Ran good. On day 2 I failed to change out ice multiple times in chamber and when I got up on day 3 temp was 75+ F. Put ice in chamber and faught to drop temp all day. We were in a heat wave with 90+ F temps for days. By 6 pm temp was down to 68.7 F. By 830pm it was at 67F again. On 8/30 about 130 pm added 5.5 cups pureed rasp. in mesh bag with juices straight into primary. Temp was sitting about 66 F at time due to rasp being cold. 09/01/21 1130am pulled trub and then purged air with CO2. Didnt take reading but very little activity. Temp is holding steady now between 67-68 F. Pulled the rasp out of secondary on 9/4/21. Overshot the FG with a 1.006. Transferred to Keg om 9/4/21. Opened top of fermenter to measure FG with hydrometer. Closed back up and purged air with co2. Did closed transfer into keg.
