Notes

used fermzilla with spunding valve and pressure gauge. Allowed it to build pressure to about 10psi and then backed it down to apx 8 psi. That was later in day 1 of fermentation. Loud gas blowing out for 2 days. Brewed on a Wednesday and Thursday afternoon fermentation was going strong. All day Friday it was pushing gas out the spunding valve. By Saturday afternoon most activity had stopped. I did a gravity check using a party tap and the pressure within on Sunday evening. It came out with a small head. Gravity was about 1.011. I took the collection container off the fermenter, emptied, cleaned and sanitized it. Water was boiled and used to disolve the 4 oz of peanut butter extract. I chilled it down and added it into the collection container, shot come CO2 into it and put back on fermzilla. Opened fly valve and beer flowed down. It did not mix as well as I hoped and seems to be sitting on bottom. The beer did have a good peanut taste. This beer was brewed for comp but it was cancelled due to flu epidemic. Decided to turn this into a PB&J. I took frozen raspberries and thawed. Mashed them and added them to completely fill the collection container on fermentzilla. NOTE; make sure to close butterfly valve before removing collection cup (beer blew everywhere before I could close valve... I dropped wort down onto respberries. Watched it for a day but it didnt mix well. So pulled cup and dumped from top and then replaced collection cup. I taste tested 2 times a day. After 2 days the evening taste was very stronge so I racked beer and carbed. When tasted now it was a tart/bitter flavor (much like a bitter hop flavor) on the backside. Not sure I like it. I think the flavor taste test pulled some floating fruit.
