Taste Notes
This IPA turned out great. The bitterness ratio looks high in BeerSmith, but it's very well balanced, in my opinion. The color is really nice, too. This is a very good beer. I'll brew it again and I don't plan to change a thing.Notes
After brewing, I noticed my bitterness ratio was high. I didn't notice that before I brewed. I was blindly looking at just the IBUs, and not the ratio to gravity. As I write this, it's just starting to bubble in the primary, so I'll have to wait and see how it turns out.
On day 8, I racked it to a secondary and dry hopped an ounce of chinook. My first mistake was racking it and then sprinkling the hops onto the top of the beer. Afterwards, I realized I should have poured the hops into the secondary and then racked on top of the hops. I also realized that since I broke my hydrometer, I wasn't able to make sure that primary fermentation was winding down or done. It had certainly slowed down bubbling in the airlock, but the krausen hadn't fallen back much, so maybe I should have waited to rack into the secondary. We'll see what happens. This Recipe Has Not Been Rated
