3/23/12 Sat. Evening Making Starter: Boil 1500ml water in 2l flask with 8oz (1lb $3.99 of golden light DME. @8:25pm slow boil for 15min. Started cooling in cool water in sink. Used Raytek MiniTemp Laser Temp gun to check smack packs and starter wort @ 9:13pm smack packs @74F and wort @73.5F Hit OG target of wort 1.060 9:22 added 2 smack packs of 1056 yeast and started stirplate expected time till pitching 6:00pm Sun. 3/24/13 Wireless digital temp gauge to measure strike water temp Oregon Scientific Thermo AW131 3/24/13 boiled mash water to evap choline poured into 10gol igloo at 11:30 Target strike temp 167 Grain in at 12:20pm hit 152 target exactly closed up at 12:25 stired at 15min interval for 1hr sparge water temp hit 167 target Sparged for one hr Pre boil vol of 7gal Refractometer reading of pre boil wort of 17brix = a 1.070 SG Started boil at 2:48pm hit hot break at 3:18 Added Chinook for 90min boil at 60min added Tomahawk at 30min added citra & refrac reading=19brix = 1.079SG refrac reading at flame out sample 21.1brix = 1.088 Hydrometer reading at flameout sample 1.084 6:00pm pitched 1650ml of starter at 70.5F wort at 71.5F Primary Fermantation exactly 5.0gal of wort in carboy
