This is an attempt to make a really tasty strong beer as cheap as possible for a friendly competition between friends.
Total cost < $10 for a 5 gal batch.
Yeast was reused from a previous batch = FREE
Hops were all home grown = FREE
Base 2-row purchased in bulk $35 for a 50 lb bag ($0.70 / lb)
Specialty grain was home roasted from base 2-row ($0.70 / lb)
Costs do not include the cost of water, electricity, propane, labor, or equipment. Any ingredients you grow yourself are considered free. Any ingredients you just happen to have lying around need to be calculated into the price.
