Sometimes you want to be taken to or by Oblivion, well, here is an Aroma Coma coming right at you Hop Heads! Oblivion Double IPA is our take or hat tip to some fine folks Stateside who have been pumping out Hop forward in balance IPAs and DIPAs since Adam and Eve were Brewers.
New World American Hops Citra and El Dorado sit alongside old school classics Cascade and Centennial and balance nicely on top of a Pilsen, Ale, Rye and Cara Gold Malt Base fermented out clean with a Nor Cal Ale Yeast. If this DIPA does not take you to Oblivion or release you from Oblivion we do not know what will! Enjoy Responsibly, Sip, Savour and Share! Cheers #BrewHoppy #BrewHappy always
This is a starting point with grainbill and hops for the All-Grain Kit. Adjust equipment profile, mash profile and efficiency as per your own setup. Brewing salts and kettle finings such as Whirlfloc are optional , the recipe would benefit from a simple addition of 5g Calcium Sulphate mixed with the grains at the start of the mash.
METHOD:
1. Mash – the brewer should do normal mash regime, mashing in 19 L of strike water at 73 C for a 66C Single Infusion Mash for at least 75 mins
2. Sparge: Fly sparge with 16 L water at 76 C to hit your pre-boil volume of 25L.
3. Boil – vigorous boil for 60 mins. You may want to boil for 90 mins if time permits with first bittering hop addition at 60 mins.
4. Hops: Add 30g each of Cascade and Centennial at the start of the boil or @60 mins, 30g of El Dorado at 15 mins from end of boil and and 30 g of Centennial and 20g of Citra and @5 mins from end of boil.
5. Pitch Yeast & Fermentation – Aerate well and ferment at 18-22 C until FG is reached or terminal gravity is table for two days.
6. Yeast off and double dry hop after primary for 72 hours (3 days) each dry hop with 20g each of Cascade and Centennial and El Dorado and 40g of Citra. After 3 days first dry hop do a second or DDH (Double Dry Hop) with the same amount again! Hop Oblivion awaits you!
7. Crash chill and bottle or keg as normal.
8. Mature for 10 days before carbonating. This Recipe Has Not Been Rated
