Taste Notes

For a roughly 6kg grist, expect to see an SG of 1.046 (not incuding the leftover strike water in the HLT).

Notes

To avoid the disaster I had the first time I tried this recipe (when I didn't use any hulls and the mash was shooting jets of wort up into the air), I used oat hulls (10% of grist) to avoid a stuck mash. Worked perfectly. pH was 5.22 Gravity at start of boil: 1.033 (this included the 2.5 litres of water that had been left in the HLT). OG was 1.039. This is the first time I used just one corny for fermentation. I transferred about 17 litres into the corny. I stopped the flow when it reached the middle port (so about 10 litres left in the boiler). The beer was crystal clear going into the fermenter even with the big whirlpool hop addition.
