Taste Notes

2/8 Pre pitch tastes/smells sweet and very hoppy. 3/4 Hydrometer sample had a strong hop aroma. I got orange and pine. Tastes very bitter to me. I don’t care for hop bitterness. I don’t put a bunch of orange peel in my mouth. Give me a stout or an amber instead. The wife likes it. That’s all that matters. 3/9 First carb check after a week. This might be the first IPA I actually like. Needs more time in the bottle. All in all a great success.

Notes

1/21/19 My wife likes IPA so I’m making this soon. I’ve tried really hard to like IPA, but I just can’t. I know they’ve been big forever, but I like amber and stouts the best. 2/8 Achieved 212 F with Clawhammer Supply method of lid slightly open. Small boil over once. Adequate aeration with drill mixer. Glass hydrometer reading was 1.052 at 66 F. It was also 1.052 corrected for 60 F calliberation. Batch 002 is shaping up to be superior to 001. 2/9 High Krausen 2/22 Dry hopped, still bubbling 3/2 Placed Tilt Hydrometer - it’s done 3/4 Bottling day complete. I have 45 bottles.
