I used 4x Vanilla Beans for a 20L Batch instead of the recommended Vanilla Extract. I've cut, scrapped and sliced the beans and prepared an infusion for a couple of days on vodka. I've added it by the end of the first fermentation. The aroma and flavours were incredible. I will definitely brew this recipe again for Christmas.

Awesome beer, it was a huge hit for the holidays. I used 30.00 ml, of a high quality Madagascar vanilla extract per 5 gallon keg. I also bumped the boil time to 90 min.
Great beer
by touffu21I used maple syrup to reach the EST OG and added oak chips in secondary to create this delicious nectar. A perfect recipe for Christmas.
Perfect winter porter
by JoemamastatzThis was my second brew. I brought it to family Christmas and everyone loved it. Definitely going to brew again.
Nailed it
by flipenfetcherVery good beer. I used vanilla beans soaked in dark rum similar to others. It really came through.
Smooth Drinkable Beer
by rgoldmanWe brewed this and it came out fantastic. We scaled up for a 10gal batch and added Orlando Vanilla extract purchased on a recent trip to Mexico. I didn't know how much to add so I added until it smelled good without being overpowering. This may be the best beer we've ever brewed in 5 plus years of brewing!
A smooth easy drinking Vanilla Porter
by ChalkyVery popular, even with non dark beer drinkers.
I used good quality (expensive) Madagascan Vanilla extract.
The bitterness and the use of Chocolate malt is restrained to prevent competition with the Vanilla extract.
