Notes

The chocolate is just unsweetened bakers chocolate 2019-04-24: Brewday: 20.75 lbs of grain fills the orange Home Depot bucket which results in too fine a crush when it starts to get recycled at the top. Oh well. We also added 1.5 lbs of Rolled Oats for a total of 22.25 lbs of grain. Water to grain ratio is set at 1.25 qt/lb and called for 29.6 qt of water (7.4G). It worked but just barely. With the grain, I had to reach into the hot wart to adjust the AutoSparge float level. *** 22.25 lbs of grain at 1.25 qt/lb of water is a limit for the 10G BoilerMaker MT when used with RIMSrocket!*** Unlike on the prior Lambic batches, we are nailing the mash temp today. Curious! GPM is running low today, 0.25 to 0.4 or so, just like then. Darn, I forgot to get O2 for today. I’ll be splashing and shaking… Pre-Boil gravity was 1.065 and OG was 1.077, both way short of the targets. Grumph! Not sure why. Is there a limit on our RIMS systems? Rachel has similar, even more severe, issues with her Blichmann RIMS system. Shook for a minute after runing wort in from up high to maximaize splash. Pitched yeast at a fairly cool temp of 61°F. Applied blow-off tube into StarSan I know it’s going to krausen big time. 2019-05-13: Racked to plastic secondary for transport to Barrel 7 filling. Refractometer read 11.6 Brix, 1.045 SG, giving us a Gravity after Primary of 1.027. Taste is fine, though I am not sure I like it as much as I did as wort. Barrel filling is set for next Saturday, 05-18. 2020-02-08: Barrel emptying today and 5G is to come home. 2020-03-16: Tapped today. No idea of the cumulative numbers for ABV, OG, FG, etc. This went into keg 3 and tap 3.
