Taste Notes

A crisp and refreshing lager, something for those warm sommer days. Will benefit of some lagering post fermentation. Crystal clear and hops up front without being too dominating. An easy drinker.

Notes

A German pilsner with high alpha American citrus hops? We say - hell yeah!! A German maltbase from Boulder Brewing attacked by the All American hop profile from Black Cat Brewing. Best of Both Worlds - All German Malts - All American Hops! First Collab brew from Black Cat Brewing and Boulder Brewing.

Great summer lager

by Aleksander_B

Crisp and clean lager. Great aromas from the hops and the bitterness is just right. Need to adjust the flavor hops next time, then this brew is a winner!

NB. It turns out it was a winner after all ;-)

Interesting

I took this recipe and changed it just a tad. Increased bitterness to 48 IBU, beefed up Munich malt to .75 lbs, added more german pilsner (to get to 5.5%) and dry hopped with 1 oz each of Amarillo and Citra.

The malt and 810 white labs yeast did some magic and is a great combo. It could use a different bittering hop than Cirta. Maybe Casacade or Columbus or even a hop shot. However, what I like about the beer is the intense aroma. It smells and tastes fruity and almost pear like.

I'd brew again, but probably add a hop shot for 60min.
