Notes

first time doing drain then batch sparge with equal amounts. hit 80% mash efficiency according to preboil gravity of 13 plato, usually hit 65%. according to post boil gravity of 17, however, it was really 70% with 11.5 plato. 9 gal with pot not quite level, so kept boil weak at first to prevent boilover, increased as wort level came down. had x gal left in pot after transfer. Whirlpool not very good at all, temp was about 78, usually about 65-70, also used whirfloc and whole hops for first time. whirfloc seemed to really get good clumps. will probably do hop spider or pellets next time. xfered to secondary and dryhopped on 12/29. xferred to keg 1/3. wow. really good and really close to clone.
