Dank and hoppy

by redlantern

Firm bitterness with rounded edges. Dark citrus on the nose and full, dank presence. Melon a bit higher on the palate, but more subtle. Resin and hemp plays in. Hop oils evident on the tongue. Bitterness silghtly on the low end of range, but within style requirements

A bit darker than most, but definitely reflective of the flavor. Decent head that dissipates slightly but remains around the edges through to the bottom and there is nice lacing present.

Malt is enough to support the overall flavor and offer a subtle suggestion of sweet maltiness that accents the hops. By no means, however, does this flavor play a prominent role

Alcohol warmth is present as it warms, but minimal upon first taste. There are enough hop oils to provide an illusion of body that quickly dissipates into a dry finish that lingers nicely.

This is a very drinkable brew that hides its ABV well and focuses on what a DIPA should - the hops. Good balance

As a note, the steeped hops were added in at 145°F and held for 40 minutes

Home brew competition yielded 42 points score
