Fermented a bit to hot, Quite a bit of bananna esters. I'd like to try it again, with better temp controlNotes
2015-01-10
Made 2L yeast starter night before.
2015-01-11
Crushed grain twice
6.5 gallons of 165 strike water
added first salt addition to grains while mashing in.
settled to 158, dropped to 156.
started recirculating at about 40 min in, dropped to 150.
Measured pH with strips, between 5.0 and 5.4
Measured at 5.41 with pH meter
After 1:15; added 1 gallon of 190 water
Sparge/Mashout water not hot enough yet, still waiting...
1:45ish in Added 3.5 gallons of boiling water for mashout
Settled to 162 Held for 15 min
Sparged with 170 water
Collected 13.0 gallons of 1.048 wort
Brought to boil spoonned off hot break
boiled for 10 min added hops
added nutrient and whirfloc at 10 from end of boil
started whirlpool and put in whirlpool hops
Couldn't figure out hoses, didn't turn on for 11 mins
cooled to 70 26 min after after flameout adn pitched
cooled to 65 and started collecting
O2ed and set in the dining room
OG 1.056
next morning:
foam had clogged the airlock overnight and blew off the bung on both
added antifoam and replaced bungs
when got home from work, one had blown again...
temp was around the 68-69

Kegged the beer. The temp was from 66 to 71. I think it reads about 1 degree high.

Added dry hop to cold beer. 1/2 oz to each Keg.

removed dry hops, (8 days)
02-08-2015
for one of the 5 gallon kegs:
purged seperate keg
added 1oz isengalss to about 2 pints of beer in the keg and mixed
added rest of keg to that keg (had about 1/2 inch cut off from dip tube)
