Taste Notes

YUM!!!

Notes

Added just under a pound of oats that were laying around for the grain bill. Also went with a single hop, cascade. The bag of millenium smelled funny. Took the water to 160 for mash in and managed to keep temp between 152-158 for an hour. Not bad on the stove! Sparged 3 times: 1) 1 gallon @ 150 2) 1/2 gallon @ 150 3) 1/3 gallon @ 120 (tap water) Next, I tossed in half a pot of coffee for good measure! After 20 minutes, I added the LME and DME. I was planning on a 45 minute boil but, got distracted but goings on. BOIL OVER.. oops. Wrapped up by adding 3oz of decaf espresso grounds and 1oz of Hershey's Unsweetened powder with 10 mins left in the boil. I forgot whilfloc but the wort is pretty clean. Pitched the yeast halfway through the transfer and made sure to swirl the carboy on the way to the basement. moved into the secondary on 10.23.13

My Own Rating

I'll give myself a 3.5 out of 5.. others might say a 4+ but I try to be my own worst critic. This came out much better than I hoped and I think with a few tweaks I will have a real winner here.
