Heated 5.5 gallons strike water to 177F next time 175F. It became 169F in the mash tun Waited until 162F next time 163F After adding grains it is 151F Ph:5.80 at 70F high!!! After 1 hour temp is at 147F First run 2.8gallon 1055 abv Heated Sparge water to 180F. It is 170F in the cooler. Sparged 2 times and Stirred. Total 7.5 gallons. 1035 abv too low. Added dry malt extract now its at 1042 There is 6.5gallons of wort after the boil. There is 5.5 gallons in the fermenter at 1050 FG:1008 Mashed at low temp and FG is also low. Fix it next time. Ferment at 66 first week and bump it up to 70. Efficiency is %63. Fix Ph with the new salt ratios. Buy 2oz acidic malt Try 1.75 grit ratio. Target for 7 gallons in the Kettle. Sparge one time. Stir 5 minutes during Sparge. Check grain bed temp after adding Sparge water. You are looking for 170F. Sparge with 190-195F. Drain slowly during the batch Sparge, quart a minute. This is the most important part!!! Someone else says drain fast! Try to drain the dead space. Don't stop the pump until the chiller is empty. Try mashing longer. Try Stirring 3-4 times during the mash. Buy 0.5lb more marris otter
