Brooklyn/Alt
After talking with Patrick Morse, Brew Master of Flagship Brewing Co., and understanding their lineup of beers, I designed this recipe from inspiration of the German ‘old’ bier styles. Designed for the bright, drinkable session beers of Dusseldorf and Munich, I’ve added a distinct American twist: I’ve stretched the category to provide more body and a bolder flavor profile while balancing the pale color and refreshment of a Kolsch. This Brooklyn/Alt Bier fits nicely in the other end of the spectrum to the Flagship Dark Mild, balancing their portfolio of fine beers.
Ken Webster has been brewing since 2008 and started with an extract Irish Red Ale. He went through his IPA phase, morphed into an APA period and now enjoys the subtleties of beers with great hop profiles while preserving the delicate balance of malt characteristics.
