Notes

Oops! I misread the recipe and was shooting for an 8 gallon batch. Added about an hour to the boil. 1:20 - Water temp is 162F. Pulled out a gallon of water and added the grain. Added the water back. Was able to mash 17 pounds of grain with 6 gallons of water. Maybe because 1 pound was flaked barley. Tun temp ended up at 150F. 2:00 - Tun temp has dropped to 148. 2:20 - Started sparging with 6 gallons of water. 2:35 - Ended up with 10 gallons of wort. When I took the OG is when I realized that I had too much wort. 3:15 - Boil started. 5:06 - A little over 8 gallons, so added .6 oz Columbus and set timer for 15 minutes 5:21 - Added another .6 oz of Columbus and set timer for 15 minutes. 5:36 - Added .6 oz of Cascade and set timer for15 minutes. 5:51 - Added .6 oz of Cascade ans set timer for 5 minutes 5:56 - Added .6 oz of Mt Hood and set timer for 9 minutes. 6:08 - Flame out. Started cooling. Wort wouldn't flow so I had to ladel it into the mash tun (with it's false bottom. 6:30 - Ended up with 6.25 gallons but the OG is low - only 1.068. the estimated OG is 1.083 9/24/2014 - FG is 1.018. Done perking at least a day ago. 9/27/2014 - Racked to secondary and added gelatin. 9/28/2014 - Kegged 5 gallons and bottled 11 bottles.
