Notes

This beer is an example of how everything can go wrong on brewday. Stuck sparge. Two attempts to clear it. finally covered the false bottom with cheesecloth. that worked. but extended the mash time about an hour. Added water to kettle to make up boil volume went from 1.070 to 1.045 Boil went well but damn do I lose a lot to evaporation must be the wide pot. then find the chiller is broken and unusable, now what?! End up chillng the pot in the bathtub with a pot of ice inside the wort. not ideal but worked. transfer to fermenter looks like about 3 gal in the fermenter. boil and cool water to make up the difference. 1.065 to 1.040 pitched starter, lets just see what happens next.
