Notes

AMS 20ml in each batch of water. 13g DWB added to grains 7G added to sparge grains Needed to add 700ml water to get mash temp to 65.2C Stir after 20 mins pH seems less than 5.0! Temp had dropped to 64.6C Added hot water 300ml, temp at 65.2C End of mash temp 62.8C Iodine test shows complete conversion 1st runnings 1072 (something wrong here, vorlauf channeling?) 2nd runnings 1029 (something wrong here, vorlauf channeling?) Into kettle 30L at 1045 WTF!!! Extended the boil to 75min to try and raise og slightly Pre cooling vol 25.5L Cool to 80C (2mins ish) and add whirlpool hops Steep for 30 mins whirlpool a couple of times Checked mash tun whilst waiting and recovered 3.5L more wort at 1041 here's the lost sugar!!!! Post cooling vol 24L Start another whirlpool and put lid on , wait for 10mins to let trub settle in middle Into fermenter 21.7L @ 1053 Quite a bit of hop material got into the fermenter at the end. Remember to NOT use hose, just splash it in from the tap. Ferment at 17.6C Day 4 18.2 Day 5 18.6 Day 6 19.2 Day 7 SG @ 1009, tastes really good
