mash infused at noon march 9 2018 with 7 gallons water? 9.85 gallons in aluminum 20 gallon pot with grain put in 4 grams cacl and 12 grams gypsum used 1/2kilo abey malt and .437kilo victory stale malt. 12kilos weyermann pilsner malt infused in 20 gallon pot with no accessoriesn at noon 50 C settled mash temp 25 minutes at protein before flaming on 25 minutes to heat to 60 C 45 minutes in at 12:45pm we are several minutes into 60C sacc rest 1:30pm started heat up agin dropped to 57 2:20pm at 69C 3pm still starch indication 4pm iodide test brown. going to move mash into lauter tun' lautering was difficult to keep flow, i believe the pick up tube was hitting bottom of lauter tun. nothing was found below the mash screen. 7:36pm 13 3/8" 14.53 gallons @ 16.2 Brix 1.065, stopped at 4 brix 1.015 run off. added water to just above top rivet 15.5" 16.83 gallons = 2.3gallons top up water theoritically drops it to 1.056 and 16.83 gallons lee started boil around 8pm 15.4 brix 1.061 60 minutes to go 15.75 gallons 8:35pm 13.18" 14.25 gallons 17 brix 1.068 9:25pm 17.8 brix 9:48pm 1.072 19.8brix 1.080OG hydrometer is 1.081 boil was about 2 hours 12gallons into two fermonster 7gallon carboys equipment notes. mashed in 20 gallon alluminum pot hlt was 20 gallon aluminum electric herms pot lauter tun was sankey 15.5 gallon keg step mashing on blichmann burner boil on blichman burner boil off 12.7% change pick up tube so it cannot bottom out, probably just force pickup all the way into silicone tube water was carbon filtered started brew day 11am and finished about midnight
