Taste Notes

A few people at BBC mentioned that it was a bit sharp - I wonder if this is from the sparge pH issue I think that the bitterness is too much for the malt base I ended up not liking this greatly. Too much of the bitterness and a chalky taste on the tongue. The sharpness alse affects the drinkability. It would be worth trying again with a proper sparge pH and fixing the bitterness to make something more drinkable

Notes

Sparge water pH initially too high - 6.1 Adjusted with a further 1mL H2PO4 - repeat check was 3.8!! Need to use less next time!! Added 300g DME due to gravity coming in with poorer efficiency. Will start asking for finer grind from hoppy's as efficiency falling and only change of process is him changing stores. Also noted much less powder in bag last time and this time. Pitched at 16 ~2230 hrs. Was 8 by morning (friday). 10 sat. 10 sun (all taken in evening) Slow ramp. Measured 24/2 - 1.020 Froze 2 x 250g watermelon to allow titration of addition. Will add once frozen and thawed (likely 25/2) Put in 25/2. Tried after 250g and barely a hint noted (with time to mix). Flavour there but small. Working so added further 250g watermelon for total of 500g Dry hopped at same time Dry hop removed 28/2 1930
